Hi [First Name],

A quick heads-up: our records show your renters insurance policy may be missing or expired. Your lease requires active coverage, and going without it puts your belongings at risk and could result in a lease violation. The good news: getting covered takes about 5 minutes through Homebody.

Hi [First Name],

Here's something a lot of renters don't know: our property insurance covers the building, not your belongings. If there's a fire, water damage, or theft, your personal items aren't protected unless you have your own renters insurance policy.

Homebody renters insurance covers:

  • Personal belongings (furniture, electronics, clothing)
  • Liability protection
  • Additional living expenses if you're displaced

Policies start low, and enrollment is right inside the Homebody app.

Frequently asked questions

First, check the Entrata help center to see if your question has been answered in an article or video.

If a resident has an issue with a Homebody insurance policy, they can contact our insurance agency directly at service@homebody.com or 1 (877) 577-0850.

A standard Homebody renters insurance policy covers residents' personal belongings against fire, theft, water damage, and more. It also includes liability protection (if a guest is injured in their unit) and additional living expenses if they need to temporarily relocate. It does not cover the building itself — that's the property's policy.

Requiring renters insurance reduces the property's liability exposure and protects residents financially. When residents have their own coverage, they're less likely to pursue the property for damages, and claims get resolved faster. It also reduces the administrative burden of handling resident loss disputes.

That's fine, residents aren't required to use Homebody's insurance. They can upload proof of their existing policy in the Homebody app or provide it directly to your team. The requirement is active coverage that meets your property's minimums, not enrollment in a specific product. When in doubt, check with your Homebody rep on what documentation your property accepts.

Residents can reach out to our agency via email service@homebody.com, or phone +1 (877) 577-0850.

Homebody automates compliance reporting and resident communication, so your team doesn't have to chase it down manually. Residents receive reminders directly, and you get reporting visibility without having to manage it one-by-one. If a resident remains out of compliance, the system flags it so you can take action per your lease terms.

Residents work directly with Homebody's licensed insurance agency team — your leasing staff isn't involved. This is one of the bigger benefits for onsite teams: no fielding insurance questions, no coordinating claims. Homebody handles it end-to-end.
